Videoconferencing
Videoconferencing has become a staple of scientific collaboration, and most will have had at least some experience with it.
Here we mention some other options when it comes to videoconferencing that you may not be aware of.
The staple videoconferencing software is Skype which provides a free, simple service for calling another researcher. Download, find your caller and call!
A new programme developed at Caltech & the LHC specifically for scientific collaboration is the online collaboration network EVO. This is free after a brief registration step and simply downloads and runs a java script. It’s merits over Skype and other programmes including allowing sharing of documents, video, audio, and screenshots instantly. Furthermore it allows collaboration with multiple authors at multiple locations at once.
