Intellectual Property Seminar
This the MESA Intellectual Property seminar held on 5th August 2011 at Victoria University.
The speaker is Dr. Jared Scarlett who has been a patent specialist with Baldwins IP since January 2000. Dr. Scarlett works primarily in the areas of patents, but also advises on copyright and design protection. He specialises in drafting and prosecution of patent specifications, providing patent validity and infringement advice, conducting IP Audits and due diligence, and advising on intellectual property strategy development and implementation. Dr. Scarlett’s technical areas of expertise are biochemistry and biotechnology after gaining a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Otago in 2000.
The seminar provides a brief introduction to the basics of IP, including trademarks, patenting and copyrighting
as well as a more in-depth look at specific IP strategies for individuals and companies within a specifically scientific context.
